In an industry driven by code compliance, access control, fire safety, and hardware performance, investing in your education isn’t just smart—it’s essential. With DOIT’s IACET-accredited training and these scholarship opportunities, you’re investing in both your knowledge and your future.
The Craig Gorton Legacy Award was established to support professionals entering the door, frame, and hardware industry by covering full tuition for the in-person Opening Industry Bootcamp. This immersive experience is designed to provide foundational knowledge and hands-on learning that creates a strong industry base.
Because this award honors a specific legacy and experience, it must be used for in-person training at DOIT’s Opening Industry Bootcamp.
Our scholarship program is made possible by our education sponsors and supporters. Their investment ensures that even more professionals have access to quality training and certification opportunities within the door opening industry.
How often are DOIT scholarships awarded?
DOIT awards scholarships twice each year. Application periods and deadlines are announced on our website and through DOIT communications.
How long do I have to use my scholarship funds?
Scholarship funds must be used within one year of the award date unless otherwise specified.
Can scholarships be applied to any DOIT course?
Most DOIT scholarships may be applied toward eligible training programs; however, some scholarships are designated for specific courses or formats. Please review each scholarship’s description carefully.
Is the Craig Gorton Legacy Scholarship available for online training?
No. The Craig Gorton Legacy Scholarship is specifically intended for in-person attendance at the Opening Industry Bootcamp. This immersive, hands-on experience is a key part of the legacy the scholarship honors and cannot be applied to online training.
What if I’m unable to attend the Opening Industry Bootcamp in person?
If you are unable to attend in person, we encourage you to apply for other DOIT scholarships or future training opportunities that better fit your availability. DOIT will also communicate when new online training options become available.
If I’m not selected, can I apply again?
Yes! We receive many strong applications each cycle, and we strongly encourage applicants who were not selected to apply again during future scholarship periods.
